Town Church
The tower of the protestant town church is one of the landmarks of the town silhouette. The church was built in 1730/31 by Count Friedrich Eberhard von Hohenlohe, the city wall on the south and west side served as the outer wall, the fortified tower as the church tower. The interior was designed in the Haller Baroque style with two galleries running all around and the altar, pulpit and organ arranged one above the other.
In the grimly cold night of February 20-21, 1929, a fire broke out in the former royal seat in a manner still unexplained today, which destroyed the church down to the surrounding walls. Already in 1930, thanks to the energy of the then town priest Diez, the new current church in the form it still has today could be consecrated: The enclosure walls had been restored in the old style, but the interior was given a modern Art Deco design by the architect Richard Weigle from Stuttgart.

Gaggstadt Art Nouveau Church
The imposing Art Nouveau church in the Kirchberg district of Gaggstatt, which lies on the road to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, is reminiscent of a fairytale castle.
The building, which can be seen from afar, was built in 1904/05 and is considered to be probably the most beautiful church building by the renowned architect and town planner Theodor Fischer (1862-1938), who was teaching at the Technical University of Stuttgart at the time. He was recommended by the King of Württemberg especially for this church construction project, which he realized with the support of the sculptor Melchior von Hugo (1872-1939).
