The Castle Road is one of the oldest and most popular vacation routes in Germany. Between Mannheim and Bayreuth, it connects more than 40 towns and cities over a distance of 780 kilometers and passes more than 60 castles and fortresses. It is run by the association “Die Burgenstraße e. V.”, which is responsible for the joint marketing of the member towns along the route. This includes the development and publication of advertising material, online marketing, maintaining the homepages of the Castle Road and its premium partner hotels as well as press relations. The office is also the point of contact for tourist inquiries of all kinds. In its activities, the Castle Road relies on close cooperation with public and private organizations and service providers.
