Schlosshotel Hohenstein

Hohenstein Castle is idyllically situated in the countryside outside the gates of the city of Coburg. Today, the beautifully restored complex, originally a castle dating back to the 14th century, presents itself as an outstanding jewel, with a hotel, a restaurant, event halls, a chapel and a castle park.

The castle hotel itself is managed by Alexandra and Andreas Rehberger and belongs to the Romantic Hotels Group. Always with an eye for beauty, a historic and noble ambience was created that touches the hearts and all of the senses of the guests. Both the kitchen and in the hotel are steeped in regional traditions. The castle and the “Meierei” (dairy) guest house accommodate 17 hotel rooms, two of which can only be reached via a historic tower. The piano nobile with antique furniture and baroque stucco work offers stately comfort on 72 square metres. A touch of history can also be felt in the suites with separate bedrooms. In the Meierei, the appeal of the spacious living-sleeping area of the rooms lies in a successful combination of modern and historic furnishings.

The castle restaurant sees itself as a down-to-earth gourmet destination. “Market-fresh, steeped in origin and taste, Franconian-Austrian charm” ¬– this is how chef Andreas Rehberger describes his cuisine. He combines traditional Austrian flavours with Franconian components from the region.
