Altes Badhaus

Old Bathhouse

It is probably the best preserved medieval bathhouse in Baden-Württemberg. The core of the building, a three-nave late-Gothic cross vault resting on eight massive sandstone columns, was built in the 15th century. A relic from the time when bath tubs, steam and smoke dominated the scene here is the former fireplace in the middle of the vault. Today the building houses a hotel.

Powder Tower

The double-winged powder tower forms the northwest corner of the medieval city fortification from the 13th century. The tower clock from 1766 was made by the clockmaker Jakob Braun from Eberbach. During summer, the clock chamber on the inner side of the spire, which offers a splendid view over the Neckar valley and the roofs of the old town, can be visited.

Rose Tower

The rose tower at the northeast corner of the old town is the oldest of the four corner towers of the city fortification and the only round tower: It was built in the 13th century together with the city wall with a diameter of more than 6.50 meters and two meters thick sandstone walls. Originally it was called "Rossenburger Turm" after a nearby horse trough. The human figure lying in the lintel of the high entrance probably intended to ward off evil spirits.

Blauer Hut

"Blue Hat"

The youngest and smallest of the four corner towers of the city fortifications was built on top of the existing city wall in the 14th century. Its name comes from the slate roof of the tower, which was added later and which shimmers bluishly in the right light. Inside the building was the "Betzenkammer", a detention cell.

Haspelturm

The massive bathing- or reel tower by the Lindenplatz belongs to the four corner towers of the city fortification. It goes back to the 14th century. Inside the tower a dark basement is located in which prisoners were lowered with a reel. That's where its name comes from.
