Stadtwald und höchster Baum - Eberbach

Beautiful hiking trails, idyllic tranquillity and fairytale beauty characterise Eberbach am Neckar and the surrounding landscape.

Those who want to marvel not only at native trees and shrubs but also at their exotic relatives will find them in the Eberbach Arboretum. Divided into 17 geographical areas, there are over 200 different plant species.

Did you know that Germany's tallest tree at times is in Eberbach?
The Douglas firs in the region have always attracted attention because of their enormous vigour. That is why in 1997 they were measured by experts using the most modern measuring equipment. The result was impressive: one of the Douglas firs had reached a growth height of 59.9 metres and was thus considered the tallest tree in Germany. In the meantime, the Douglas fir measures a proud 62.45 metres.

Ohrsbergturm - Eberbach

Wonderful view

The Ohrsberg, still young in geological terms, is a product of the Neckar's development. The striking hilltop was once flowed around by river loops called meanders. The Ohrsberg remained after they were cut off and silted up and lies 229 m above sea level.

The tower of the same name on it is another 17.50 m high and was built in 1970.

In the 13th century, there was probably a fortified enclosure on the summit of the Ohrsberg, which served to protect the town. The moat can still be seen today. A wooden tower probably stood on the site of the Ohrsberg tower at that time.

The Ohrsberg circular trail is impressive because it is easy to walk and close to the town. Only 5 minutes from the railway station, you are already in the middle of the forest.

Those who take the short detour to the tower are rewarded with a magnificent view of the city and the Neckar valley.

Holdergrund with red deer nature trail

A beautiful hiking trail leads around the wild boar and red deer enclosures in the Holdergrund. The red deer nature trail conveys the connections between forest and red deer. Along the way, there are three barbecue facilities in addition to a very idyllic section along the Holderbach. The Itterbach, which flows by, invites especially children to play. The starting and end point of the round trip is the nature park hiking board at the parking lot in the Holdergrund. This is how you find your way to the hiking parking lot: Follow the road "Alte Dielbacher Straße" into the woods until you reach the barrier. Here you will find a nature park overview board with various hiking trails.
