The Franconian fortresses, once imposing defensive structures, have lost their military purpose but are still worth seeing as historical monuments. The exhibition “Fortresses - Franconia's bulwarks” in Kronach invites visitors of all ages to discover the history of the fortresses interactively. It shows their military development, the everyday life of the inhabitants and their later use as prisons or tourist destinations. Children aged 6 and over can take part if accompanied.
