In the new Abenberg Castle Museum, "1000 years of castle dreams" come to life in an interactive exhibition. The castle is full of secrets just waiting to be discovered.

On the tour through the exhibition, a key opens up many secrets for guests of all ages: In a virtual ancestral gallery, they get to know past and present castle inhabitants, can explore the fascinating history of the castle, experience its connection with the town, the region and the world, listen to medieval sounds and immerse themselves in a bygone era when real knights' tournaments took place at Abenberg Castle around 800 years ago. The dream of "finally being a knight" - here it comes true for knight fans of all ages.

For all "namesakes": the second or third name also counts! Simply show your photo ID at the ticket desk and explore the history of the castle railway with your own museum key.

Klöppelmuseum auf Burg Abenberg

Lace-making was for many centuries the most important line of business in Abenberg. The exhibition shows glorious lace in gold and silver, handmade evening dresses and liturgical robes. It illustrates the hard conditions of the lace-making women. Additionally, there are special exhibitions. Every sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm you can watch a woman making lace.
