The House of Franconian History - The museum in the 2nd and 3rd floor of Abenberg's Castle offers historical experiences for the whole family. The permanent exhibition invites to a time travel through Franconia from the Middle Ages until today. Stagings, light effects and modern media illustrate the historically grown diversity of Franconia. Special exhibitions commit themselves to Franconian art, culture and history.
A rich museum-pedagogical program is offered for kindergardens, school classes and birthdays.
Lace-making was for many centuries the most important line of business in Abenberg. The exhibition shows glorious lace in gold and silver, handmade evening dresses and liturgical robes. It illustrates the hard conditions of the lace-making women. Additionally, there are special exhibitions. Every sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm you can watch a woman making lace.
