Carambolage - The Cabaret and Comedy Festival

At the Carambolage Festival, the full range of variety arts, cabaret, and comedy collide, from humorous vocal pop to bitterly wicked satire and charmingly witty poetry.
Every year from January, big names as well as discoverable young talents grace the Karlstorbahnhof. So the festival has been reliably causing stomach muscle cramps during the winter fattening period since 2003.

Heidelberg Castle Illuminations

Bengal lights slowly bathe Heidelberg Castle in a mysterious red glow of fire. As if the ruin were burning for yet another time in its long history. Like the last time in 1689 and 1693, when the troops of the Sun King Louis XIV burned down the castle and the city, leaving behind the now world-famous ruins.

When the glowing castle slowly fades, the second part of the spectacle begins - the brilliant fireworks over the Neckar River. In 1613, Elector Frederick V had fireworks staged to greet his newly wedded wife Elizabeth Stuart in a manner befitting her rank. This fireworks display laid the foundation for the later light shows over Heidelberg's night sky.

Dates: 18 July / 05 September 2026

Tip: The Nepomuk Terrace, the banks of the Neckar River and the Philosophenweg are the best locations to admire the castle illumination from 10:15 pm.
