The Forest Experience Trail is a circular path for families with children to experience the forest in a playful way.
On the approximately two-kilometre-long Forest Experience Trail, the name says it all. Small and "big" children are invited to experience the forest in a playful way. It is important to take your time to feel, smell, see and hear everything there is to discover in the forest. Attention to detail gives the circular trail a dreamy look. The path leads into the depths of the forest. Adventures big and small can be experienced here. Imagination can be given free rein and you can immerse yourself in the world of the forest with your eyes, ears, noses and hands. The forest adventure trail is also suitable for prams. The entrance is directly at the Königsstuhl, which is easy to reach by mountain railway and by car. In addition, bus line 39 runs regularly from Bismarckplatz to the Königstuhl and line 30 from Universitätsplatz to the observatory stop on the Königstuhl.

Heidelberg: Neckarwiese

The Neckar meadow in Heidelberg offers an ideal space for recreation, play, sport and fun.
Children amuse themselves on the playgrounds, others walk across the meadow and paths, the next play volleyball or sunbathe. The 5-hectare area of the Neckar meadow offers a place for thousands.
Picturesquely situated on the riverbank, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the old town and the castle from here. Walkers stroll along the chestnut avenue at the edge - an extension of the path in the direction of Schwabenheimer Schleuse or Ziegelhausen - and enjoy taking a break here.

The water playground at the DLRG station is a popular meeting place for families, as is the skateboard facility at the Ernst Walz Bridge for sports enthusiasts. The pedal boat rental also offers the opportunity to experience the unique atmosphere from the water. The castle illumination with fireworks, which takes place three times a year, can also be enjoyed particularly well from the Neckar meadow.

On this castle tour, families follow in the footsteps of the knights: where did they dine, where can coats of arms be found, and where did the young boys live who had to assist the knights as squires and pages?

The tour takes visitors to the huge dining hall, where even jousting tournaments were held. Throughout the tour, guests of all ages can also test their skills, for example with ring toss and other games from the age of chivalry.

Just yesterday, Private Wolfram was standing guard at the castle gate. But this morning, his body was found in the moat. Clues and statements are gathered with the help of the participants.

Warning – you’ll need strong nerves; everyone is a suspect... The fact that you’ll get to explore all the key parts of the castle, as well as some lesser-known areas, is all part of the detective work.
