A tour for the whole family!

Start: The adventure trail starts at the visitor car park of Hartsteinwerke Bayern Basalt.

How to get there: Arrival is possible by car.

Parking facilities: There are plenty of parking spaces available in the car park at the beer garden.

Tour: The stone adventure trail around the Zeilberg near Maroldsweisach is all about stone working and sensory experience with stones, as well as animals and plants in the quarry. Play elements such as touch stones, stone games, sound stones and a humming stone appeal to all the senses. Enjoy the fantastic panoramic views of the Hassberge mountains and Thuringia along the adventure trail. The circular trail is also suitable for pushchairs and a short detour takes you to the Diakonie beer garden on the Zeilberg, where you can enjoy a Franconian snack.

Length and duration: 3.8 km, walking time approx. 1 h

Stop for refreshments on the way: You can stop for refreshments in the beer garden on the Zeilberg.

Return journey: The tour is a circular route and ends back at the starting point.

Burgruine Altenstein

Castle Information Centre

At 14 adventure stations, children and adults can playfully experience everyday life in a medieval castle. Models, multimedia presentations and the integration of Altenstein Castle make it an ideal family excursion destination. Try out medieval games, discover an armory with medieval knight's armor and weapons, a fictional excavation site with an adjacent research laboratory and much more!

October to April:
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m

Entrance fee is charged.
