"Romans, Knights, Puzzle Fun" – a time travel in miniature
From March 29 to September 27, 2026, the Abenberg Castle Museum invites the whole family to an exciting exhibition. Detailed play worlds with figures from Hausser Elastolin, Playmobil, and Lego bring 400 million years of history to life – from dinosaurs to ancient Egypt and the Roman era to the Middle Ages and the present.
Historical toys, lovingly designed scenes, and a Playmobil replica of Abenberg Castle offer fascinating insights for both young and old. Additionally, interactive fun is provided by stations for building and solving puzzles.
A creative and entertaining journey of discovery through history!
Once a year, Abenberg immerses itself in the world of the Middle Ages: More festival-goers than inhabitants populate the historic town of Abenberg in Middle Franconia when the Medieval Rock Festival takes place at Abenberg Castle.

Every year in July, the Stillafest takes place, a religious pilgrimage festival in honor of Blessed Stilla, the patron saint of Abenberg.
In 1132, the then Countess Stilla had St. Peter's Church built south of Abenberg Castle, where she found her final resting place after her death. Soon after her death, her veneration began. From the year 1480 pilgrimages to the grave of the blessed Stilla are known.
The charming market begins at Stillaplatz and continues over Burgsteig with Keller to the 1,000-year-old castle. Over 60 exhibitors are waiting there with their offerings and a diverse program of events. On Sunday afternoon, the Christkind of Nuremberg visits the market.
