"Romans, Knights, Puzzle Fun" – a time travel in miniature
From March 29 to September 27, 2026, the Abenberg Castle Museum invites the whole family to an exciting exhibition. Detailed play worlds with figures from Hausser Elastolin, Playmobil, and Lego bring 400 million years of history to life – from dinosaurs to ancient Egypt and the Roman era to the Middle Ages and the present.
Historical toys, lovingly designed scenes, and a Playmobil replica of Abenberg Castle offer fascinating insights for both young and old. Additionally, interactive fun is provided by stations for building and solving puzzles.
A creative and entertaining journey of discovery through history!

Children’s Museum Day in Abenberg
Children’s Museum Day at Abenberg Castle is all about discovering, trying things out and getting involved. Children can explore the castle museum in a fun way and take part in a wide range of activities. This brings history to life and turns it into an exciting adventure for the whole family.
At various stations, there are creative hands-on activities, exciting tasks and fascinating insights into life at a medieval castle. This allows young visitors not only to see history, but to experience it for themselves.
Children’s Museum Day is a special experience for curious explorers and invites them to discover Abenberg Castle with all their senses.

Castle Christmas Abenberg
The charming market begins at Stillaplatz and continues over Burgsteig with Keller to the 1,000-year-old castle. Over 60 exhibitors are waiting there with their offerings and a diverse program of events. On Sunday afternoon, the Christkind of Nuremberg visits the market.
