Camper tour 3: Kirchberg a.d.J. – Cadolzburg

.

From the Hohenloher Land to the Romantic Franconia.

The castle road leads from Schwäbisch Hall to Kirchberg an der Jagst. The small town high above the valley is at the beginning of the third tour, the next stop of which is Rothenburg o.d.T.. Once again vineyards are part of the landscape. This is where the Tauber Valley wine grows, cultivated and matured with passion for more than a millennium. Then it becomes more Franconian from town to town. Beer replaces wine as a body and stomach drink and the typical sausages appear more and more often on the menu. If you look at the history of the next castle road stations, you can feel the proximity of Nuremberg and its outstanding role in the Middle Ages. The castles in Colmberg, Lichtenau, Abenberg and Cadolzburg were all owned and outposts of the Nuremberg counts at that time. Today, Colmberg Castle and Abenberg Castle are sought-after addresses for castle romance and delicacies from the kitchen and cellar. The castles on this tour of discovery are different: they were the margrave's residence in Ansbach, the seat of the Teutonic Order in Wolframs-Eschenbach and the margrave's hunting lodge in Roth. In Roth the Castle Road touches the Franconian Lake District. Here the Lake Roth is an excursion destination that stands for the coexistence of water sports and nature conservation. This tour culminates in Cadolzburg, where in the new exhibition "HerrschaftsZeiten! Erlebnis Cadolzburg", the late Middle Ages can be experienced with all your senses.
