Eichstätt: Informationszentrum Naturpark Altmühltal
In the former monastery church of Notre Dame, one of Eichstätt's most beautiful Baroque buildings, an exhibition on the culture, nature and history of the region, combining classical elements with many stations for listening, feeling and discovering – from a ‘walk’ through the natural landscape to music by local composers to encounters with carnival figures, Romans, knights and many a stone surprise. Children can discover lots of things behind flaps and in drawers – and especially for them, the little dinosaurs Fossi and Juvi tell them all about the diversity of the Altmühltal Nature Park in a child-friendly way on the information boards. In the Garden of the Senses, visitors can look, feel, smell and taste to their heart's content: here, young and old alike can enjoy more than 40 plants with attractive flowers, beguiling scents or spicy flavours, as well as numerous butterflies, bees and bumblebees that take advantage of the rich food supply.

Eichstätt: Altmühltaler Tiererlebniswelt beim Waldhotel Geländer
In the old historic Jura stable next to the hotel, you can study the unique local flora and fauna: over 800 precious animal specimens await you, impressively and characteristically arranged in lifelike situations. Learn about the most important habitats in the Altmühltal Nature Park, one of the most beautiful and largest nature parks in Germany, in fascinating dioramas. Learn more about the inhabitants of the local forests, the typical dry and nutrient-poor grasslands, and the Altmühl and its backwaters. Discover and hear the breathtaking wildlife at night and listen to the voices of nocturnal animals such as foxes, martens and eagle owls. Marvel at majestic birds of prey calmly waiting for their next prey. Enjoy watching playful badgers, which find ideal living conditions in the Altmühl Jura. Admire the industrious woodpeckers, which build new cavities every five to ten years (new subtenants such as jackdaws, tawny owls, stock doves and bats are already waiting for the old dwellings). The exhibition provides a vivid and informative introduction to the secrets of the animal world in the Altmühltal Nature Park. Take your time on your journey of discovery, because many things only reveal themselves at second glance...
