The upper floors of the Bergstraße-Odenwald Geopark entrance gate house a large castle exhibition. As an interactive exhibition on the subject of castles and palaces in the Odenwald, it provides an overview of the more than one hundred sites worth seeing in the geopark area. Numerous panels provide information on general castle history, local castles and the subject of ‘siege’. Models, dioramas, original artefacts, replicas and ‘hands-on’ exhibits bring visitors closer to this exciting field of knowledge in a vivid way. Maps and PC workstations invite visitors to study independently, while various films on a large-screen TV round off the multimedia presentation.

Eichendorff Museum
The exhibition on Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff (1788-1857), the famous poet of the Romantic period, is on display on the second floor of the Unesco Geopark Centre Bergstraße-Odenwald. The latest findings of renowned Eichendorff researchers are also presented.
The starting point is the 19-year-old law student's stay in Heidelberg from 1807 to 1808, where he went on hikes through the Neckar valley with like-minded friends. From his records it is known that he was in Neckarsteinach at least twice. With exuberant imagination he describes his feelings when climbing the four castles. Further information (only in German)
