The Castle Road, over its entire length from Mannheim to Prague, offers a cycle path that is signposted throughout the German part.
In Germany, the cycle path runs almost exclusively on asphalt farm tracks and improved cycle paths, isolated on gravelled sections. Every now and then short sections on the road occur to overcome impassable or inaccessible terrain or when no cycle path exists. In the Czech Republik predominantly side roads are used for cycling, but sometimes a piece of traffic is to cover.
In the Rhine valley and along the Neckar there are virtually no gradients. Before Waldenburg in Hohenlohe a greater slope is to overcome, as in the area of the Kocher, in Wolframs- Eschenbach, in the Franconian Switzerland, in the Franconian Forest and in the Fichtelgebirge. On the Czech section, there are larger differences in height.
The GPS-Track of the Castle Road's cycle path can be downloaded here.
