The globally known Christmas market "Nürnberger Christkindlesmarkt", the "Reiterlesmarkt" in Rothenburg ob der Tauber that exists since the 15th century, as well as the Christmas markets in Heidelberg, Heilbronn and other larger cities at the Castle Road have their gates open during the whole Advent season.
But also the smaller Christmas markets at the Castle Road like the Castle Christmas Market in Abenberg or the Christmas market in Kirchberg an der Jagst, which almost all take place on the first or the second Advent weekend, are always worth a visit.
On three or on all four Advent weekends the old German Christmas market in Bad Wimpfen, the Christmas market in Öhringen under the motto "Winter, wonder, christmas glitter" or the Christmas market in Kronach are lovely destinations for a pre-Christmas trip. In Forchheim in Franconian Switzerland the town hall forms the "most beautiful Advent calendar of the world" with its windows.
Also lovingly designed cribs can be admired in many places. A special feature plays surely the Crib Town Bamberg, where at about fourty stations museum cribs and church cribs and also large cribs are displayed. Find out more about it in the event calendar of the Castle Road
