On these pages, we would like to invite you on a journey through time along the Castle Road. Our holiday route will take you to well-fortified, massive castles, enchanted castle ruins, magnificent palaces and picturesque, half-timbered houses. Everywhere a bit of the past has stayed alive, and numerous museums and events tell of the ups and downs of such former times.

The Legacy of the House of Wittelsbach
In the Wittelsbach Year 2013, the major cultural-historical exhibition “The House of Wittelsbach on the Rhine - the Electoral Palatinate and Europe” in Mannheim from 8 September 2013 until 2 March 2014 marks the highlight. Two major events in Heidelberg will also focus on the "Wittelsbach". The 400th anniversary of a European dream wedding will be celebrated with “The Wedding 1613 – 2013”. The main anniversary exhibition “The Power of Faith - 450 Years of the Heidelberg Catechism” will be open from 12 May until 15 September 2013. In Schwetzingen, the “250 Year Anniversary of the Travels of the Child Prodigy Mozart” series will take place. Read more

All about Wagner ...
On 2013 May 22nd is the 200th anniversary of Wagner’s birth. Bayreuth owes him its worldwide fame. Nuremberg is the only city in the world Richard Wagner composed an opera, "Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg". A good reason for both cities to celebrate the great composer this year. Unique musical events are also part of the programme as exhibitions, guided tours and special packages. Read more
